The “MOOV” You’ll Want To Make
With each passing year, people are becoming more health-oriented, and the amount of devices that have been created to give you a push or take you all the way to your goal has been growing by the minute. There’s the Fitbit line of watch-trackers, Withings Pulse O2, Misfit Flash, and others. But have you heard of one that is actually a personal coach?
MOOV is here to make you move.
It is the fitness tracker that keeps you motivated and committed to an activity through words of encouragement – literally. This is the fitness device that talks to you, giving you that extra push whether you’re cycling, running, or swimming.
We recently caught up with Mr. Rhymart Manchus, Developer for Android apps and the proud owner of MOOV NOW™ about his experience with the device. We wanted to know how he came to choosing MOOV out of a plethora of fitness wearables and if it has greatly affected his awareness for health and being active.
MB: We heard about your MOOV NOW™ purchase, and was wondering how you came to the decision to do so.
After acquiring the MTB, I decided to look for a measuring tool, a tracking device connected to my phone that records every detail of my activity, the path of my ride, and my progress. Before, I was using apps available for Android and iPhone to track these things, but as I browsed the internet, I saw many tracking bands offering solutions to my needs. However, one stood out – Moov. In addition to it being affordable, it offered itself not as a mere step counter but as a more helpful activity tracker that motivates you to push through every activity you do. Given these, I decided to go ahead and purchase one.
MB: What was your initial reaction when you got it? How did it feel when you put it on for the first time?
The packaging was pretty simple, and the band was ready to wear out of the box. I was very excited to try it on my bike rides and see relevant results from the gadget.
MB: Was it hard to setup and pair with the app?
It was so easy to setup. The interface of the gadget is just like a button – you simply press when you want to start tracking your workout. Moov is paired with an app, available on Android and iOS devices. You need the app to start your workout.
MB: What can MOOV actually do? Does it live up to what it claims to be able to do on the site? What activities have you tried it with?
MOOV is an activity & sleep tracker and your personal coach. In every activity, MOOV (via the app) motivates you to do more than what you think you can do. It offers detailed results, depending on the workout you do. Let’s take cycling, which I do a lot, as an example. It gave me information about my cadence, tallest climb, splits per KM of my track, and elevation. I also tried brisk walking and MOOV gave me information about my steps per minute, forward-back swing for the efficiency of steps and impact score – which is awesome and very useful to avoid injury. Moreover, MOOV can detect, through its omni motion sensor, my sleeping patterns. I can now know my deepest sleep times and their duration.
MB: Did the watch make you more health conscious/motivate you to live healthier? How?
Of course. It motivated me to “MOOV”, do some workouts and track my progress. Currently, I’m improving my cadence so it will be consistent with any kind of terrain, and I’m happy to have MOOV strapped onto my ankle. With the help and support from my parents and my girlfriend, I was able to lose 13kgs from biking and proper diet.
MB: What feature do you most enjoy with MOOV? Why?
I enjoy every result Moov and its app are giving me. Every detail makes me wonder how can I improve those areas more and at what extent my body can get better at, for now.
MB: If you could improve the app or the functions of the device itself, what would it/they be, if any? Is there something you’d like the manufacturers to include in future versions?
Not much, but I would like my data to be synced in the cloud. Currently, they don’t have that feature, but I think it would be great to have that in the future. A heart rate monitor would also do on their next version, which is vital in every workout. They require a third party device to handle the data gathering for heart rate, which is kinda costly.
MB: If you had to choose just three words to encourage our readers to buy their own MOOV, what would they be and why?
MOVE – It’s more than just a step counter;
COACH – It motivates you to do more than what you think you can do; and
SPECIAL – It gives you significant data about your workout.
