My Naga City (Bicol) Experience
Thank you myBicol.com for accepting to post this experience of mine during my Business Trip in Naga City.
It was a short trip but I could not help writing about the wonderful experience, specifically my stay at the Avenue Plaza Hotel. Honestly, I could not believe, an excellent Hotel like this exists in southern luzon.
When I reached the Naga airport, a staff of the Avenue Hotel in a very nice Uniform was there to fetch me. He was very polite and very jolly during the whole twenty-minute ride from the Airport to the Hotel. That already gave me a good first impression.
When we got to the hotel, my second wow moment came. Its exactly how they showed it in their web site (well, some would post pictures which are more beautiful in picture than when you actually see them). The Staff were already waiting for their guests at the entrance, with welcome drinks and hot towel offered to guests. Wow! The warmth and the service at the airport, the entrance up to the front desk. The trip was already getting interesting.
Check in was handled very well, the reservation was just as I had made and everything was ready when I got there. I went up to the room, now excited to see what wow moment again awaits me. When I opened the door, that was another Wow moment indeed. The interiors were impressive, the room smelled clean and fresh, Nice toilet and bath with bath tub, cable television, huge closet, wonderful lighting, and I liked the work area in the room. There was a card bearing my name, welcoming me to the hotel and i so loved the pili tarts (I had to ask the front desk what they were). I then sat down to check my mails and finish some stuff on my laptop. The hotel has free wifi and it was surprisingly fast. Even my kids can play online games here.
At three o’ clock I had to go to the restaurant of the hotel for my business meeting. They call the restaurant Plazuela. Nice name. While waiting I ordered brewed coffee and to my delight, their delicious coffee costs much less than your regular coffee shop or cafe.
When my guests came, I made them order and the waiter suggested their Tea time specials. My guests followed the suggestion and when the food was served, even they were impressed. the way the pastries were presented and the quantity of the serving was very reasonably priced. The honey which came with the kettle of tea was heaven. we ended up ordering another kettle while having our business meeting.
The meeting ended about dinner time, so I went out to check out the food that Naga has to offer. There were some restaurants recommended but I did not want to go far so I went to the front building, the Avenue Square, still part of the hotel where you will find a spa, Wok, a Chinese Restaurant, Maki yaki, obviously a Japanese Restaurant, Shakeys Pizza, Coffee Beanery, Bubble Town, and Chili Peppers. I chose Chili Peppers, tried their delicious baby back ribs and Hoegaarden Belgian beer. I should bring my family and friends here next time, they will surely love the food.
I went back to the hotel at about nine o’ clock, pampered myself with a hot bath in their bath tub and was ready to sleep after a couple of hours.
When i laid my back on the bed, it literally felt like Im lying on clouds. the bed, mattress, the pillows were so soft. I drowsed into the abyss in no time.
The following day, I had to try the pool. The water was so clean, none of the chlorine smell, with staff ready to assist you with your needs. After my usual number of laps, I dried up and checked on the Gym. I thought I would get used to the excellent facilities already and have set high expectations but when I saw the gym and the equipment, I was still amazed. I have been to 5 star hotels but this gym is far more superior compared to a lot of them.
After shower, it was breakfast time. The buffet set up was awesome, there were a lot of people, some of them not guests of the hotel but locals having breakfast meeting or having family breakfast at the Plazuela. They have very nice food selection. There was an Egg station where a chef would cook the eggs of your specification, fruit, salad and cold cuts bar, cereals table, then the main course. I tried everything, and the dried fish was a sell out. The waiter said they buy them locally and it is produced in a nearby coastal town.
After the sumptuous meal, it was time to pack up and head to the airport, as the shuttle leaves, the hotel staff queued along the entrance and waved us goodbye. It was a very pleasant sight, a wonderful gesture. I will definitely go back to Naga and bring my Family to the Avenue Plaza Hotel for them to experience the city’s Hospitality.
Thank you Avenue Plaza Hotel!
