Purpaws in Action’s 3-day fund-raising event kicked off with a bang—or should we say, a “wag”?— last April 29-30, 2024 with an Art Fair for a Cause at the 8 Pillars of Ateneo de Naga University. A diverse array of talents showcased their works in their respective booths displaying their artwork through pet-themed merchandise carefully crafted with love for the cause. There were also interactive art stations for pets and pet parents as well as the launch of the event’s loyalty cards filled with exclusive perks and exciting rewards! The event concluded on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Courtside, Dinaga with a fur-tastic Furry Fashion Show. Pets of all shapes and sizes strut around the catwalk in their fabulous outfits.
In partnership with Courtside, BicolDrag PH, ADNU Media Studies Society, and through people’s generous hearts, the event raised a total of PHP11,498.00 as of May 3, 2024. The funds will be used by PurPaws In Action in an initiative to feed strays in Naga City.
“Animal welfare is not highly prioritized in our country.” They said in their Facebook post. “Not only do we not have proper implementation of animal welfare laws, our country also lacks the necessary programs in rescuing and rehoming street animals. Aspins and puspins, especially, are prone to abuse, cruelty, and neglect. But hope is not lost since there is something we can do about it.”
Because of this, the initiative does not end with just the fundraising event. PurPaws In Action are calling on all animal lovers in Naga City to join in and lend a helping paw on Saturday, May 11, 2024 for a Stray Feeding Initiative around the city.
